I feel a contest comin' on . . .

I have been working feverishly on adding new pages to my website. Which for me means it makes me get a fever, not that I'm working super hard. HTML and CSS are still a stretch for me after all this time.

Anyway, I've added pages for selling the art that's available, for selling cards and, TA-DA, the newest page, selling double matted prints.

So to keep you interested despite my lack of art to share, I decided to have a little contest to
win an 8x10 print of your choice
(even if it's not on the print page yet - I'm sure I've forgotten something)
along with a small token of my affection.

There are several ways to enter:
  • comment here
  • tweet about it
  • share it on facebook mentioning
  • comment on the post on my facebook page
  • Be sure you use the @ to mention me on facebook & twitter so I can find your entries.
Deadline is Saturday, July 30th at midnight (CST) and I'll post the winner next Monday.
Thanks for playing.  Hopefully now that I've finished these pages I can actually finish some art.  Tho I do want to do a calendar page and one about my workshops so . . .

it sure is quiet here

I've been a little quiet online for a few days.  I'm trying to add some pages to the website and html is NOT my cup of tea!  Thank goodness I'm not redoing the entire site again!  That wore me out.

But I am finally adding a page of available art with links to individual pages for each piece that's for sale.  Yikes!!

I also want to add a workshop page because I have discovered that
TEACHING IS SO MUCH FUN!!!
I know I'm not the first person to find that out but why didn't anyone ever tell me?  I have such a great time learning  with everybody!  Click here if you'd like to see some pictures from the workshops.

Risqué or Okay?

In mid-December, I finished a piece that I'd worked at on-n-off for 2½ years.
It is my favorite piece by me.
Ever.
I absolutely love it.

So, I know you're over there saying,
"lemme see, lemme see"
but I'm afraid to post it cuz,
drumroll please,

there is, as we used to say in Houston, a NEKKID woman in it!!!!!
I have no problem with nekkidness and I don't think it's naughty to make or view nekkid art.
My question (Risqué or Okay?) isn't about the art but about putting them
on my blog, my Facebook page and/or my website.

I have a fear of being banned on Facebook or of getting an over-18 label on Blogspot.

Heck, can you tell by my cagey terminology, I'm afraid of
dun-dun-dun
web-crawlers
I don't know a lot about SEO or webcrawlers but I don't want to be
labeled as naughty because I use the real word for nekkidness.
Now I've completed another piece with this issue.
TOTALLY different from the first but nekkid just the same.
To make this even sillier, you can't see the body in the top one unless you're
standing 15 or more feet away.  And a few people have even seen
the second piece up close and don't realize it's a body.

So what are your opinions - not on nekkid art but on the consequences of posting said art?
Do you know much about crawlers and labels and banning, etc?
Should I be worried or should I post away?

(It sure would be nice if someone from Google or Facebook would just call and tell me the scoop!)

By the way, the top three photos are from the piece
FIFTY-ONE also known as FIRE
and the lower three are from the new piece
OKLAHOMA HILLS.

Woo-Hoo!!!!

I "finished" the website yesterday and I have it interfaced with the blog.  I love how you can go back and forth between them by clicking on the labels above or the links & pictures in the footer.  I am REALLY excited about that part.  Of course, "finished" is such a relative term as far as websites go!

Anyway, I wanted to let you know I've returned to the land of the living.  In a couple of weeks I'll be at The Creative Connection Event so I won't be writing much then either.  (Are any of y'all going to that?  I'd love to meet up with you for a Diet Coke).

Please check out all the new tabs and the new goodies in the sidebar - and please let me know what you think.

Thanks for bearing with me on all this ~ Sherry

NEW LOOK!!!

I'm partway there! This is the new look my aunt and I are working on for the blog and website. Hopefully soon there will be some tabs above here so you can move freely between the blog, the galleries and the shopping.

But the web pages take longer than the blog so I decided to at least show you some of our hard work. The background you see is the background I created for this piece of art I did a long time ago.

Please let me know what you think of the new look.
Now I'm off to play in HTML - yuck - wish me luck ~ Sherry

Fini! Finished! Done!

I'm DONE with two ongoing projects that have been kicking my patootie - getting the house on the market and getting the website done.

A year ago I said the website was done but I now know that wasn't true - it was up but it wasn't done. And in some ways, websites aren't ever done. I still have PayPal to do on one page and I need to photograph a lot of jewelry for the jewelry gallery. Oh, and put up some journal pages. But the layout is perfected (thank you Hope) and the home page has a beautiful movie showing my "stuff" (thank you Victor).

The house is another story. Our house is beautiful. Patrick designed it and it has everything we need and want. We love it and our neighborhood. But we have no kids living upstairs anymore. We want a smaller carbon footprint. We want to have less debt. We want me to have more time for art. So we started talking about selling it over 18 months ago. But there was a wedding. Then we were just pokie. Then there was an economic crash. Then we were still just pokie. Now it's listed and we get to try to keep it ready to show for who knows how long.

It's such a relief to have these two major projects behind us. Then, in three weeks, tax season will be over and I won't know what to do with myself. Oh yeah: All the art projects sitting in baskets and tubs in the studio, the garage and the storage unit.

At least that should give me something pretty to post! ~ Sherry

Hello Again

Hello again Friends. Sorry to have been away so long. I've been making some jewelry - I have several pieces not quite finished so no pictures yet - and putting some new pages up on the website.

My aunt, Hope, has been making little icons for me to use as "buttons" on the website (Studio Pashnada) - please check them out, along with the new pages. She also made all the new labels in the right column. Aren't they great? I'd been on iTkUpiLLi's blog and seen her wonderful freebies but they didn't quite work with my "stuff" - so Hope came to the rescue. I'm thinking it's a service she should offer to others!!

Anyway, I'm still doing a lot of work on the website which seems to take up all my self-alotted computer time but I'll be back soon ~ Sherry

Please Pardon My Mess

I bought a magazine/book the other day called ARTFUL BLOGGING and realized while reading it that my blog needed some work. So Please Pardon My Mess while the site is being remodeled. Again. Of course, the main thing I need to work on is posting more pictures and more frequently. But with all this room reorganizing and blog remodeling, I haven't done much art for awhile.
Oh! I did finish this cute little purse. I recycled the body from an old purse I had made (I'd worn thru the body of it).

I guess I better go get to work ~ Sherry

Baby, It's Cold Outside!!

I live in Oklahoma. Before that, Texas. It just is NOT supposed to get below 40 at nite and 60 during the day. Now, I know, I know, it does. But it's not supposed to. Yet it's been 20 for a few days now. YUCK!!

I don't know about you, but I become extremely unmotivated when it's cold. Here it is the time of year when we all have more to do than we possibly can and along comes some cold and a little bit of ice (might as well be a foot thick for all the wrecks there were on the way to work today - but that's another post!!!) and I don't wanna do anything! Not shopping, not Christmas cards, not art, nothin'.

Even my art journal is looking pretty empty (kinda like this blog!). There are jewelry parts on the desk but my studio is colder than the rest of the house. There's an almost assembled assemblage and a couple of gifts to complete. Not to mention, I desperately need to update the website. Again. Yet I'm about to crawl under a comforter and watch bad tv.

Now, the good news is, I keep coming up with more ideas! And I'm writing them down. I keep thinking that a time might come that's the opposite of now, when I'll have more time but no ideas so I write them down now.

Of course, if it's cold, I won't do anything with the ideas then either!!

FINISHED!!

Finally!

The updated website is up and running. Now to catch up on the domestic duties that suffered so badly while I was working on it.

Then maybe I can get back to making art. Maybe by tomorrow - after all, domestic duties were never my thing anyway!!

Please visit the site (http://www.studiopashnada.com/) and let me know what you think ~ Sherry

It's Wearing Me Out

The website is wearing me out. I don't have time to make anything. I don't have time to blog (which we all know is the ONLY reason I don't do it more often (hehe)). I don't journal - art or otherwise. I spend all my spare time trying to get the new & improved site done. And I'm tired.

Thank goodness my aunt Hope is helping me out. She is so much better at that stuff than I am. She fixed my javascript problem and made some pretty scrolly things to make the site look even better.

Speaking of scrolly things, isn't this new background beautiful? It's a free download (info below). Wish I could change the color, but do I really need more photos to edit?

Well, back to the website. Hopefully I'll be able to post soon that it's finished ~ Sherry

Getting Started

Guess it's about time I set up a blog. I keep hearing that I absolutely HAVE to have one to succeed in this art journey. I'm having a lot of trouble keeping my regular website up to date and writing in my journal so don't expect too much too soon.

I've been working on some pieces to submit to a couple of local jurored shows (and by "working on" I mean I've been thinking about them a lot!!) I've also come up with a possible new layout for my website - I like it a lot but it's just so much work and I'd rather make art than write HTML. It will feature the logo shown on here.

Hopefully I'll get this figured out soon and be back with something REAL to say.

In the meantime, check out the not-so-current website Studio Pashnada.
Thanks ~ Sherry
